The body of Mirjana Pap, 58, was discovered in County Roscommon on Monday - two days after she was reported missing
Gardai investigating the murder of Mirjana Pap, whose body was discovered in a field in County Roscommon on Monday have arrested a man.
The body of the 58-year-old, who was originally from Croatia, was discovered in a remote area at Curraghaleen, around 10km outside Athlone which she had lived and worked for a number of years.
She was last seen in the town in the early hours of Saturday and was the subject of a missing person appeal over the weekend.
Investigations have been ongoing since and on New Year's Eve gardaí confirmed the investigation had been upgraded after a post-mortem was conducted.
A number of vehicles have been seized as part of the investigation and at least one property in Athlone has been examined by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.

In an update, issued this Friday afternoon, gardai confirmed there has been a significant development in the case.
"Gardaí in Athlone investigating the death of a woman in her 50s, whose body was discovered on lands at Curraghaleen, Co. Roscommon on Monday, December 30, 2024 have made an arrest.
"A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested this (Monday) morning on suspicion of murder and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in the Meath/Westmeath Division," said a spokesperson.
Investigations into Ms Pap's murder are ongoing.
