A 60-year-old has died in a fatal house fire in Cork on Friday evening, January 31st 2025.

Gardaí are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of the man.

At approximately 6.50pm Gardaí and Fire Services were alerted to the fatal house fire on Togher Road in Cork.

The fire was brought under control by Fire Services and the body of a man (aged in his 60s) was discovered deceased inside the property, Gardaí said.

Investigating Gardaí have preserved the scene as they work to determine the cause of the fire, said An Garda Síochána.

The State Pathologist has been notified, said Gardaí, and a post-mortem examination will take place on the body of the deceased in due course.

The results of the post-mortem, along with a technical examination of the scene, will guide the ongoing Garda investigation.
