Three people were killed in separate road crashes in Cork and Waterford
Separate investigations are underway following two fatal crashes which claimed three lives on Mother's Day.
In the first incident, a woman, in her 60s, died following a multi-vehicle collision on the N25 at Moonameen, County Waterford at around 2.10pm on Sunday.
"A passenger of one of the cars, a woman aged in her 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her body has since been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course," said a garda spokesperson.
The driver and passenger of the second car, a man and a woman aged in their 50s, were also conveyed to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of serious injuries while the female driver of the third car, aged in her 60s, was conveyed by air ambulance to Cork University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The road was closed for technical examinations following the collision and gardaí in Dungarvan are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Separately, gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a head-on collision that occurred on the N72 at Navigation Road, Mallow, County Cork later on Sunday.
"Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the collision, involving two cars, which occurred at approximately 3.50pm. The female driver of one of the cars, aged in her 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene," said a garda spokesperson.
The female driver of the second car, aged in her 40s, was also pronounced deceased at the scene.
Gardai say the passengers of the second car, two children, one male and one female, were conveyed to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.
Gardaí in Mallow are investigating and they are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
