'One crew, two counties': Irish Navy sailors 'get to grips' ahead of All-Ireland final

Even the high seas aren't neutral when it comes to today's All-Ireland hurling final, and the Irish Naval Service is having a bit of craic with it.

Ahead of the sold-out showdown between Cork and Tipperary in Croke Park, the Naval Service shared a brilliant post showing that rivalry runs deeper than just county lines - it's on deck too.

"While every crew aboard our Naval vessels is tight-knit and united in service — come All-Ireland Hurling Final time, especially when it's Cork vs Tipperary, things get a bit more… spirited," they wrote, alongside a series of photos.

The post shows sailors proudly donning their county colours at sea. From Tipperary jerseys on the bridge to Cork flags waving on deck, the post even includes a staged photo of a Cork and Tipperary man playfully squaring up in their gear.

"Good-natured rivalry runs deep among shipmates from both counties, with pride (and maybe a few laughs over lunch) at stake," the Naval Service added.

"But win or lose, we're always one crew under one flag."

With throw-in set for 3.30pm at GAA HQ, it's clear the build-up to the All-Ireland final is reaching every corner of the country, and beyond.
