The body of the woman was taken from the water at Glencolmcille
Investigations are underway after a woman died following a drowning incident in Glencolmcille, County Donegal.
The woman, aged in her 50s, was taken from the water just after 7pm on Friday - shortly after the alarm was raised.
According to Donegallive, gardai in Killybegs were alerted to the incident with the woman having gotten into difficulty while swimming.
She was airlifted from the water and taken to Sligo University Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.

A post-mortem examination will take place in the coming days and a gardai say a file will be prepared for the local coroner.
Investigations are ongoing and any witnesses are asked to come forward.
