Irish female amateur boxer Kellie Harrington followed in the footsteps of Katie Taylor by winning gold in the lightweight division at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. The Dubliner, who also won gold in the lightweight division at the 2018 Women's World Boxing Championships, has once again influenced the next generation of Irish female fighters.
Fellow boxers Amy Broadhurst and Lisa O’Rourke have since become world champions this year, mirroring the success of Taylor and Harrington.
