The fifth finalist of Home of the Year has been chosen - a ‘massive renovation project’ of a 1950’s bungalow in Co Offaly
The family of four who live in the impressive house has made it their ‘forever home’, after completely knocking the old dwelling down, except for two walls.
Although minimal, the house is open plan with high ceilings and lots of light. The warm colours of the decor add a ‘comfortable feeling’ to the home.
Described fondly as a ‘contemporary but warm home’ by judge Sara Cosgrove, the minimalist interior also impressed judge Amanda Bone, who said it was ‘calm and restrained’ and that it made sense in terms of design.
“Walking around this home what you get is a sense of family, fun and most importantly, contentment,” said the third judge Hugh Wallace.
“The combination of style and practicality is a real winner,” said Sara who scored the house a nine while Amanda was also a fan, as she scored it an eight.
“This is a comfortable, warm and inviting home,” she said. The total score for the home was 27.
High scores all around meant that this house is the fifth finalist of Home of the Year, which will see 21 homes battle it out at the end of the series to be crowned the overall winner.
