Walshe’s of Killerig has been granted conditional planning permission to add a restaurant extension to the back of the pub

A popular pub in Carlow has been granted conditional planning permission to construct a restaurant extension.

Sarah Walshe, of Walshe’s of Killerig, submitted the application to Carlow County Council in February of this year.

It details what the restaurant will look like, with permission sought for a single storey extension to the back of the pub.

It will connect to the existing outbuilding, which will be transformed into a kitchen area.

Rest rooms, a new car parking area, waste water system, and a new vehicular entrance have also been included in the permission request.

The conditional permission was granted with 13 conditions on August 21st.

One of those conditions states that a “development contribution” of €6,250 must be paid to Carlow County Council before the development construction begins.

The reason for this is “to contribute to the cost of Local Authority Services which facilitate the development.”

Another says that all telecommunications and other public services must be located underground and associated cabling or wiring should not be laid across facades of buildings.

This is said to be in the interest of visual amenities.

Noise and dust emissions must be kept to an absolute minimum and they must not result in “significant impairment of or significant interference with amenities or the environment beyond the site boundaries.”

It’s not currently known when construction will begin.
