Provision not always made in budget for erections to close off lanes, says Council official

The issue was raised at this month's Carlow MD meeting
"Just because a right of way is extinguished doesn't mean a gate will be put in," Senior Executive Officer at Carlow County Council, Eamonn Brophy, told members at this month's Carlow Municipal District meeting.
The issue was raised by Cllr Andrea Dalton who had been contacted by residents who queried when they could expect a lane to be blocked off after the local authority had extinguished public right of way.
Mr Brophy said it is often the case that "provision is not made in the Council's budget for such erections after a motion to extinguish right of way at a particular lane has been passed".
