Well done!

Rathvilly is "not far away from past glories" said Cllr Brian O'Donoghue as over 200 plants were put down in the village recently.

The north Carlow village has a rich history in the Tidy Towns competition having won it in 1961, 1963 and 1968.

The flowers were planted on the wall at the Green and Rathvilly Tidy Towns said: "Over 200 plants were put down and as they grow over the next year or two the colours should look ever more spectacular."

There was also some cleaning and planting on the hill wall near Station Road.

Cllr O'Donoghue said: "Rathvilly Tidy Towns are not far away from our past glories!

"I would ask everyone connected with the village to get involved in some way. Our most historic and nationally successful organisation are doing brilliant, thankless work and it’s really paying off!"
