Status Yellow Rainfall warning continues with rain, wind and flooding possible

Thursday will turn wet and quite windy with spot flooding possible, according to Met Éireann.

A band of rain will move northeastwards across the country during the morning and afternoon, followed by sunny spells and scattered showers.

Fresh to strong and gusty southeasterly winds will back southwesterly as the rain clears.

Met Éireann's Status Yellow Rainfall weather warning for Carlow, Kerry, Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny, Wexford, and Wicklow will stay in place until 2pm today, Thursday 7th December. Spells of heavy rain are spreading eastwards and will be accompanied by strong and gusty southeasterly winds.

Potential impacts include; localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and/or poor visibility.

Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.

Thursday night is set to be mostly dry apart from scattered showers with some clear spells.

Breezy with moderate to fresh and gusty south to southwest winds.

Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

Friday 8th December will be wet and breezy as showers or longer spells of rain move across the country, lingering through the day in many areas. The rain will clear eastwards during the afternoon in southern counties so it will be mostly dry and clear by evening and winds will ease too.

Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees, with fresh to strong and gusty, southwest winds.

National Outlook: Unsettled with wet and breezy weather at times but with above average temperatures.
