The Met Éireann forecast for Carlow for the weekend makes for grim reading as Strom Kathleen rages on.

The forecast for Friday from Met Éireann looks like this:

"A mix of cloudy periods and isolated showers this morning in fresh southerly winds. Any showers will clear away later this afternoon but it will become quite overcast. Mild today with highs of 12 to 14 degrees."

"Cloudy but mostly dry early this evening with fresh southerly winds. Rain will push in from the south later however, possibly heavy at times tonight too. Mild with lows of 9 to 11 degrees."

And to make matters worse the weather does not seem to be looking any better on Saturday:

"Very windy Saturday morning as Storm Kathleen tracks north across our Atlantic coast. Very strong and gusty southerly winds, with severe gusts in exposed areas in the west from early in the morning. Scattered showers will spread throughout the country too before gradually easing later in the afternoon as Storm Kathleen moves off to the north. Highs of 14 to 16 degrees."

CarlowWeather's Alan O' Reily seems to be in agreeance with the forecast provided by Met Éireann:

"A windy and showery day today with some bright spells in the East. Winds increasing further by early tomorrow as #StormKathleen brings damaging gusts. More heavy rain tonight also with risk of some thundery downpours."
