ALERT: Carlow added to yellow weather warning for thunderstorms

WEATHER: 'Risk of some severe thunderstorms' Carlow Weather man provides daily forecast

Carlow Weather and Met Éireann have provided weather updates for Carlow and surrounding areas for the day.

First looking to Carlow Weather on X: "A nice morning here but an interesting day of weather ahead with risk of some severe thunderstorms. Some showers in the Southeast already."

With an early update of early thunderstorms in neighbouring counties: "Thunderstorm around Laois now already."

Met Éireann have added Carlow along with the rest of Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford.

The weather warning is for heavy downpours and thunderstorms with potentially spot flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility. 

With the Met Éireann daily forecast reading as follows: "Cloudy today with scattered showers developing this morning. The showers will turn increasingly heavy as the morning and afternoon progress, with intense downpours and thunderstorms developing and hail possible. Highest temperatures of 17 to 19 degrees in light northerly or variable winds."

Then Met Éireann's updates for this evening: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms will continue for a time early tonight. However, the showers will gradually ease and become less frequent overnight. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in light northwesterly winds."

"A cloudy night with heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms continuing at first. The showers will ease and become less frequent overnight. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in light northwesterly winds."
