High pressure hope in Met Éireann July weather forecast but there's a big catch
Met Éireann have provided some hope for a resurrection of summer weather in July but the catch is we have to wait until the end of the month and endure weeks of unsettled weather beforehand.
Not only that, the high pressure predicted at the end of July is not guaranteed to bring with it warm and sunny weather.
The predictions are contained in Met Éireann's extended forecast which covers most of July. In the forecast for the week from July 1, they say "the signal is for high pressure to the southwest and low pressure to the north to feed in a predominately northwesterly airflow over the country.
"This will keep temperatures around normal for the time of year for most, possibly a little cooler than normal in the northwest and a little milder than normal in the southeast. Drier than average conditions are expected though there will likely be some showers or weak bands of rain at times, particularly in the northwest."
For the week from July 8, they say: "It is indicated to be more mixed with neither high or low pressure dominating. Temperatures will likely be above normal over much of the southeastern half of the country, closer to normal elsewhere. Rainfall amounts will likely be around normal for most as well."

"Similarly, there is no indication of high pressure or low pressure to dominate our weather for Week 3 [from July 15] though there is some indication of high pressure building to the north which could lead to an easterly or northeasterly airflow at times. Mixed and somewhat unsettled conditions are likely with much of the northern half of the country expected to have above average rainfall amounts, closer to normal further south."
For the final full week of July, the early Met Éireann forecast reads: "High pressure is indicated to become more established to the north with a predominate east to northeast airflow over the country. Temperatures will likely be above average for most though closer to normal for northern and coastal areas. Rainfall amounts will likely be around normal for much of the country with some signals for drier than normal conditions in the northwest and wetter than normal conditions in the southwest."
Sunseekers will be holding on to that final week and also that some of the other predictions for earlier in the month are wrong.
