Highs of 18 to 20 or 21 degrees
Met Éireann and Carlow Weather have provided their weather forecast for County Carlow and surrounding areas for the day and a look to the weekend ahead.
Firstly, Carlow Weather on X: "Warmer air finally getting close to Ireland? Things can only get better at this stage & the good news is the weekend is still looking pretty good. After a mix of showers and sunny spells Saturday Sunday will be dry with hazy sunshine and next week looking warmer with little rain!"
And then for today by Carlow Weather: "Another cloudy start today and some heavy showers in Northern areas. Sunny spells will push in from the West this afternoon but also some scattered showers. A much better end to the day ahead and improving further tomorrow and into the weekend."
Looking then to Met Éireann:
"There'll be a good lot of cloud around for a time today, with a little rain, drizzle and some mist in places. However, it'll become brighter from the west through the afternoon, with good spells of sunshine developing. Some scattered showers will develop too through the afternoon and evening, a few possibly heavy, mainly in northern parts of the province. Highs of 18 to 20 or 21 degrees in light to moderate southwest breezes, gradually becoming mostly moderate westerly."
This evening: "It'll become mostly dry tonight with long clear spells. Cooler than previous nights, with lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees in light to moderate west to southwest breezes."
Tomorrow: "Tomorrow, Friday, will be a bright day with good long spells of sunshine. There'll be a scattering of showers too though, a few heavy. Highest temperatures of 17 to 19 or 20 degrees in light to moderate southwest breezes."
An early look at the national outlook for Saturday: "The showery rain will continue to spread eastwards on Saturday morning, but it'll have cleared into the Irish Sea by the early afternoon. Drier and sunnier weather along the west coast from early on will follow to all parts. While there'll be a lot of dry weather for the rest of the day, a scattering of showers will develop though the afternoon and early evening, mainly in the midlands, east and north. It'll become dry in most places through the evening. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds veering west to northwesterly."
