Make the most of the sun as Met Eireann predicts 'unsettled' Bank Holiday weekend u-turn

Ireland is set for a warm and sunny two days before the weather sharply shifts before the Bank Holiday weekend, with Met Eireann predicting an "unsettled" weekend.

Today, Tuesday, will be mostly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells, although there is a chance of isolated light showers in the west and north this morning and early afternoon. Highest temperatures ranging between 17 degrees in the northwest and 22 degrees in the southeast, in a light northwesterly or variable breeze.

Wednesday will be warm and dry with sunny spells for most of the day. Cloud will increase in the west and northwest during the afternoon, bringing some patchy rain in the evening. Highest temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees with light and variable winds.

Thursday will begin with light patches of rain before the day brightens up with highest temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees. Cloud and showery rain will move in from the west during Thursday night but it will stay dry in the east.

It will be a cloudy and wet start to Friday morning with dry and clear conditions extending from the west during the evening. Highest temperatures of 17 to 23 degrees, in a moderate to fresh southerly wind, easing and becoming westerly with the clearance of the rain. Most areas will be dry and clear on Friday night but it will be cloudier in the west and northwest with some showers.

A fresher and cooler day on Saturday with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with moderate southwest to west winds.

The rest of the bank holiday weekend is looking unsettled with spells of rain or showers, according to the forecaster.
