Met Éireann have issued a yellow warning specifically for Carlow and orange for the whole country

WEATHER: Carlow issued with another weather warning as Strom Éowyn arrived overnight

Met Éireann have provided their daily weather forecast for County Carlow and surrounding areas.

This comes on the morning after Storm Éowyn as the whole country has been placed under a new orange weather warning, and Carlow with a yellow warning once the orange warning has expired.

The orange warning will be in place until 12:00 on Friday and then the yellow warning takes over till 16:00 on Friday.

Looking firstly at today's forecast:

"Storm Eowyn will continue to bring strong to gale force southwest to west winds, with destructive and damaging gusts. The winds will gradually ease through the afternoon and evening. There'll be a mix of sunshine and scattered squally showers, some of hail and with the chance of a little sleet later. Highest afternoon temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees but feeling much colder due to wind-chill."

Tonight:

"Tonight will be mainly dry with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees with some frost and ice, as winds decrease light to moderate southwesterly."

Tomorrow:

"It'll be frosty to begin tomorrow but it'll be mainly dry in the morning and early afternoon with sunny spells for a time. Cloud will increase with a band of showery rain spreading from the west through the afternoon and early evening, with scattered showers to follow later and some sunny spells into western parts of the province. There'll the chance of a little bit of sleet too, mainly over higher ground. A rather cold day with highest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees. Southerly winds will increase fresh and gusty for a time, but easing again later."
