Met Éireann issues Status Yellow warning for Carlow amid soaring temperatures

Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow weather warning for Carlow and 13 other counties as temperatures are expected to soar this weekend beyond 30 degrees in some parts of the country.

The Status Yellow warning for high temperatures has also been issued for Kildare, Dublin, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan and Roscommon.

The warning has been issued as maximum daytime temperatures in excess of 27°C combined with night-time temperatures in excess of 15°C are expected.

The Status Yellow warning is valid from Friday, 11 July at 12pm until 6am on Saturday, 12 July. The warning will be in place again during peak sunshine hours on Saturday, 12 July from 12pm until 6am on Sunday morning, 13 July.

Met Éireann has warned the potential impacts of the warning include heat stress, uncomfortable sleeping conditions, as well as water safety issues as more and more people flock to lakes and beaches. There is also an increased risk of forest fires.
