Met Éireann forecasts major change for the week ahead in latest weather update
After a wet and miserable week, Met Éireann's latest weather forecast suggests some brighter, albeit chilly, conditions are on the way this week.
High pressure is expected to dominate this week, bring some more settled weather across the country. However, we will notice a brisk chill early on in the week but temperatures are expected to recover as the week goes on.
The forecast for next weekend remains uncertain, although Met Éireann says that early indications suggest a breakdown in this high pressure and possibly a return to more unsettled conditions.
Here is a detailed forecast for the coming week according to Met Éireann.
Sunday night will be much drier than previous nights with long clear spells. Patches of mist and fog may form in light northerly or variable breezes and it will be a cold one with lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees.
Monday will be off to a dry and sunny start. There will be some cloudier conditions which will gradually spread from the north throughout the day with chances of showers in the northwest, but sunny spells in the south. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.

Tuesday night will be largely dry with clear spells at first, however cloud will gradually thicken from the west overnight. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 11 degrees.

Thursday will be a similar day with more cloud, sunshine and patchy rain or drizzle, especially in Atlantic coastal counties. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees.
Met Éireann's further outlook for later in the week suggests the possible breakdown of high pressure into the weekend, however details remain uncertain.
