A second "hazardous" yellow weather warning is in place for Carlow amid Storm Chandra's effects on Ireland.

Initially, a yellow weather warning for rain was issued, but a second yellow weather warning for wind has also been issued for Carlow.

It has been in place since 5am and will last until 11pm.

Met Éireann is warning of "very strong and gusty" winds.

Possible impacts include fallen trees and loose debris, as well as hazardous travel conditions.

The weather warning for rain also has some likely implications, including localised flooding, difficult driving conditions, and river flooding.

That warning came into effect at midnight and will remain in place until 11pm tonight as well.

Kilkenny, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford are also being affected by the same weather warning.

Today is said to be the most impactful day for Ireland with "heavy and persistent rain" falling onto already saturated ground.

The storm is also affecting Nothern Ireland, the Isles of Scilly, western Cornwall, and southwest Wales, according to the UK Met Office, which named the storm.
