Thousands already raised ahead of 5km run in aid of Carlow Women's Aid this weekend

Dolmen Athletic Club are hosting a fundraiser 5km walk/run for Carlow Women's Aid this Saturday morning, 12 July and already thousands has been raised for the great local cause.

The 5km walk/run will begin at 8.30am on Saturday morning at Carlow Rugby Club and it will be untimed. Afterwards, everyone is invited to gather at The Coffee Pot for a social coffee.

The Carlow community have been invited to show their support to the worthy cause this weekend, with fantastic raffle prizes up for grabs that have been donated by local businesses. 

So far, there has been a phenomenal outpouring of support as Dolmen Athletic Club announced that they have already €2,400 in donations through Revolut. 

People can pre-donate to the cause via Revolute or buy raffle tickets which cost €5 a strip.

In a post on Facebook, Dolmen Athletic Club said: "If you are planning to attend please pre donate on the Revolut code and message us so we have an idea on numbers. If you want to buy raffle tickets again please use the Revolut with name and number and we will send you your ticket numbers.

"Some lovely prizes kindly donated by local businesses. If anyone else wants to donate a prize give us a shout too!"

The Coffee Pot, who are collaborating with Dolmen Athletic Club for the fundraiser, are actually celebrating their first anniversary since opening this Friday, 11 July.

They shared on social media: "As part of the celebrations, we’re so happy to welcome back the brilliant Dolmen Run Club @dolmenathletic on Saturday, July 12th for their regular post-run meet-up at our container. This time, they’re running in support of Carlow Women’s Aid, and we’re proud to stand with them in raising awareness and funds for this important cause."

"Let’s raise a cup to a year of community — and to standing together for something that matters."
