The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday the 14th December 2024

Gardaí responded to report of a theft from a vehicle in the Baltinglass area of Co. Wicklow in the early hours of yesterday morning, Saturday 14th December 2024.

Shortly before 6am, a car failed to stop for Gardaí when directed to do so.

A managed containment operation was put in place during which a stinger device was successfully deployed on the N81 at Burgage Moyle, and the car was brought to a halt.

It was subsequently discovered that the car had been subject of an unauthorised taking.

The car along with a number of items suspected of being stolen were recovered.

Two males, one a juvenile in his teens, the other an adult in his late teens, were arrested at the scene and were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in Co. Wicklow.

The have since been charged, and are expected to appear before a special sitting of Waterford District Court today, today, Sunday 15th December 2024, at approximately 1pm.

Investigations are ongoing.
