Incredible work!

A Carlow man planning to do five 10km runs in one day for brave toddler Amira Rauf has raised over €1,000 in just a few weeks as he reveals the route for the run.

Amira has been in recovery in Dublin hospitals after a car accident last November left the little one paralysed from her chest down.

The crash occurred on November 6 on the N80 Portlaoise to Carlow road close to Simmon's Mill Cross between Stradbally and Arles.

The Carlow toddler has sustained life changing injuries and has had a very difficult few months with a number of complications along the way.

The run routes have now been confirmed and Fergal said: "Before I start all runs will start and finish at the Askea Parish Centre. This will be the base for the day. After asking for advice it was suggested that I do a 5km route.

"I have decided to do this which means if you are joining me we will do the following route twice each time which will make up the 10km.

"We will leave the Askea Parish Centre and then right, up by Lidl, turn left at Walls Forge, the whole length of that road until the traffic lights, turn left at the traffic lights and back in the Hacketstown Road to the Presentation Secondary School, left at that roundabout, and back to the Askea Parish Centre.

"To make up the 5km we will go back as far as the roundabout after the Parish Centre and turn right and come in the back way.

"I will be running it during the week and post a map of the route so that people can see it clearer. As I said it will be divided into two 5km laps. When we get back after the first lap we will wait for 2/3 minutes max to allow people to join in."

Anybody who would like to join Fergal on May 11 is more than welcome. The first run is at 9am and they will then be at 11am, 1pm, 3pm and the final one will be at 5pm.
