Tributes paid to Carlow man who was a 'kind neighbour and a gentleman' following his passing

James (Jimmy) McAssey - Palatine, Carlow - Monday 20th January 2025

Tributes have been paid following the passing of James (Jimmy) McAssey of Palatine, Carlow.

James passed away surrounded by his family, in the compassionate care of the doctors, nurses and staff at The Sacred Heart Hospital, Carlow on the 20th of January 2025.

Beloved son of the late John and Mary and brother of the late Hughie, Christy, Jackie, Paddy, Mickey, May, Nellie and Bernie. Jimmy will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mabel, daughters Hazel and Carol, son James, sons-in-law Jim and Tom, grandchildren Amy, Dylan, Kate, Mark, Thomas, Katie, Jim and Tommy, great-grandchild C.J., brother Bill, sister Bridgie, sister-in-law Deirdre, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Tributes have been paid in the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"Our sincere condolences to his brother Billy, to Jimmy's wife Mabel and all of the McAssey family. A kind neighbour and Gentleman always, may his soul rest in peace"

Another reads: 

"Sincere sympathy Hazel to you, Tom, your Mam, Katie and all the family. May your Dad rest in Heavenly peace. Thinking of you all."

Funeral arrangements

Reposing at McGuill's Funeral Home, Bennekerry, R93 E5N7, on Wednesday from 4.00p.m. concluding with Prayers at 7.00p.m. Removal on Thursday morning to St. Mary's Church, Bennekerry, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11.00a.m. followed by burial in adjoining cemetery.
