Fianna Fail confirms it will run seven candidates in Carlow for local elections

Fianna Fáil has confirmed it will run a total of seven candidates in Carlow for next month's local elections.

On Friday, June 7, voters in Carlow will go to the polls to elect 18 councillors to the local authority, across three municipal districts - Carlow, Muinebeag and Tullow.

The seven Fianna Fail candidates seeking election, includes six sitting councillors.

*Cllr Andrea Dalton – Tinryland
*Cllr Arthur McDonald – Muinebeag
*Cllr Fintan Phelan – Carlow Town
*Cllr John McDonald – Nurne
*Cllr John Pender – Bennekerry
*Cllr Ken Murnane – Carlow Town
*Daniel Pender – Ballinabranagh

Commenting on the finalisation of the party's candidates, local TD Jennifer Murnane O’Connor said “It is great to see a new candidate coming on board for the local elections on behalf of Fianna Fáil. He is joining an experienced Fianna Fáil team in Carlow which has six sitting councillors on it. They are all committed and long-standing public representatives.”

She continued: “Fianna Fáil is the largest party in local government. We have been making a difference in the local community of Carlow consistently over the last five years, and we are ambitious in continuing that momentum.”

Deputy Murnane O’Connor concluded, “I have no doubt, if elected, all the candidates the party has on our local ticket will work hard on the local issues that matter to the constituents of Carlow.”

Voting in the local elections takes place between 7am and 10pm on Friday, June 7.
