Leighlinbridge
Leighlinbridge have won a gold medal for Carlow at the Tidy Towns Competition 2023, placing first in the county.
The village earned 366 points in Category C.
The adjudicator said that Leighlinbridge is beautifully presented thanks to hardworking members of the Tidy Towns group dedicated to maintaining the streets, buildings and public places. They specifically mentioned The Rainbow Bar, Kelly’s Bar, Siopa Ui Braonain and the Lord Bagenal Hotel as being very well presented.
The Tidy Towns group have a three-year plan guiding their work and have applied for a grant to build a monument honoring John Tyndall, an esteemed scientist born in Leighlinbridge in 1820.
The judge mentioned that while in Leighlinbridge, the town was 100% litter-free.
It was noted that the group have made a remarkable commitment to developing and maintaining green spaces and have also made notable strides toward lowering the environmental footprint over the last year.
Concluding remarks made by the adjudicator "May your endeavors continue to thrive and may the positive difference you have made on your environment be an encouragement for others to follow in your footsteps. Congratulations and thank you for the outstanding work!"
