RIP: 'Wonderful gentleman'- Tributes paid to 95-year-old Carlow native who sadly died

Tributes have poured in following the sad passing of a 95-year-old Carlow native who was greatly known and admired in his local community.

Patrick Byrne was from Pollerton, Carlow and formerly Malahide in Dublin and passed away on November 16th, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

Patrick was the beloved husband of Margaret (Peggy) and dear father of Noel, Brendan and Áine.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughter, brother Vincent, daughter-in-law Meredyth, son-in-law Mark, granddaughter Sophie, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Patrick, with one mourner writing,

"My sincere sympathy to my dear friend Peggy on the passing of her beloved husband Pat, he was a wonderful gentleman, he will be sadly missed, also my deepest sympathy to Pats sons Noel and Brendan and daughter Aine, and extended family and friends. Rest in Peace Pat ".

Another message said, "My deepest condolences to Peggy and family on the passing of Patrick. A great gentleman and fantastic neighbour. May Patrick rest in peace".

"Dear Mrs Byrne and family I am so sorry to hear the sad news that Mr Byrne has passed. He was such a gentleman my deepest sympathy to you all at this sad time. Thinking of you," another person said.
