Keys will be given to successful applicants/families early in the new year.
Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, Cllr Brian O'Donoghue, said: "It’s very welcome news, it means another 29 housing applications will have their housing needs met in early 2019 and that’s only a good thing.
"It could also potentially mean that 29 private rented accommodation premises become available where perhaps a family can then access the HAP scheme, so all in all almost 60 family units could benefit from this project.
"The news comes the same week as four families were allocated four brand new houses in Slate Row, Hacketstown and shortly into the new year work should begin on eight new houses in Fr Flood Avenue in Rathvilly."
