JR is a four year old German Shephard who was surrendered due to his owners health issues

Carlow/Kilkenny dog shelter has showcased one special dog in their care who is looking for his forever home.

JR the German Shephard was surrendered into the care of the local dog shelter due to his owners health issues.

He is four years old and he has previously lived with another dog who was female.

JR would happily live as an only dog and she shelter has said that he would not be suitable for a home with cats because he will chase the.

“He has lived as an indoor dog and that’s the type of home we will be looking for, one where he is part of the family,” Carlow/Kilkenny dog shelter said.

“He loves going in the car and happily hops into the staff cars for a spin”.

JR can be very wary of strangers and for this reason the dog shelter are looking for a quieter home with not too many visitors.

JR’s ideal home would have someone at home more often than not as he loves human company. The home should be an adult only home, preferably.

He will require a garden to run around, and this must be fully enclosed. No local authority housing as restricted breeds are not permitted.

He walks well on the lead, although he can be a bit strong at first. He is fully house trained, according to the dog shelter.

“JR will make a fantastic companion. True to his breed he will be a loyal, loving friend to the right person with Shepherd experience,” Carlow/Kilkenny dog shelter said.

If you are interested in adopting JR, you can discuss this further with the shelter on 0599726785 during opening hours or message with your details, including a contact number.
