First Annual General Meeting for old Carlow cemetery today

Haroldstown Cemetery will hold its first AGM(Annual General Meeting) at 8pm in the Daltons on the hill pub.
The news was shared on Facebook with the message: “Please come and speak for the forgotten souls of Haroldstown graveyard in County Carlow at the Daltons on the Hill pub”.
In 2025 the Carlow County Council was urged to protect and take care of the old graveyard in a viral Facebook post.
It said: “This place isn’t just a patch of forgotten land it’s part of our soul. It’s a powerful reminder of how important it is to care for our heritage. These grounds hold the memories of those who came before us, possibly even victims of the Famine.
“If we don’t respect and preserve sites like this, we don’t just lose history we lose part of ourselves. Our identity. Our connection to those who laid the foundations of the community we live in today.
“Restoring and protecting Haroldstown isn’t about tourism or tidy appearances it’s about honour. It’s about standing up for the people who can’t speak for themselves anymore.
“It's about making sure future generations know where they come from, and that we cared enough to remember.”
